ERIC – The Children’s Bowel & Bladder Charity

ERIC, The Children’s Bowel & Bladder Charity has been dedicated for over 30 years to improving the lives of all children and teenagers in the UK facing continence challenges.

Our vision is that “every child and teenager with a bowel or bladder condition can access support and live free from embarrassment, shame, isolation and fear”.

Family Lives

Family Lives was formally registered as a charity in 1999, and operated under the name of Parentline Plus. The charity’s original formation as Parentline was founded in response to the tragic child abuse case of Maria Colwell in 1973, who was killed by her step-father.

The parents that founded Parentline believed that there needed to be a dedicated organisation supporting parents, before they reached crisis point which could result in abuse.

A merger in 1999 between the National Stepfamilies Association, Parentline and Parent Network built on the collective experience of these three charities, to provide a range of national and local services to support parents and families across the country.

Children’s Coughs, Colds, Earache & Sore Throats

Having an ill child can be a very scary experience for parents. If you understand more about the illness it can help you to feel more in control.

The ‘When Should I Worry’ booklet is for parents (and older children) and deals with common infections in children who are normally healthy. It is not meant for children who have ongoing health problems such as asthma, heart, or kidney problems. You should not rely on the advice in this booklet if your child is less than 6 months old as babies younger than this often respond differently to infections.
